"smart material" - no equilibrium

Hi all, a year ago I saw an experiment about equilibrium.
In this experiment the demonstrator used a solution which I don't know what was in it exept KI and I think starch.

He put the flask with the solution on a magnetic stirrer and from totaly colorless the solution started to be brown like, the demonstrator said it's iodine what we see.
after a minute or two the solution suddenly turned back colorless.

He procid stiring this solution and it just didn't got to equilibrium and the color was coming and going.

I hope I explained myself good.
If any one here know what I'm talking about and can help me recreate this experiment please do so.

the reaction is called somethin like iodineclock-reaction .. it will eventually stop sometime ... then it'll be at equilibrium :)

The iodine clock is a different non-oscillating reaction.

The reaction was probabaly the Briggs Rauscher Oscillator. The reaction is tending towards an equilibrium state, as the potassium iodate, hydrogen peroxide and malonic acid are being permanently destroyed. It is just one factor in the system (namely the concentration of iodine) that oscillates. Eventually the reagents will run out, and the oscillator will stop.
