Producing Organic Acids with Microorganisms

Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Recently, I read about organic acids being produced using microorganisms, and I am interested in trying it myself. So far, these are the links I have gotten useful information from:

http://www.dcu.ie/~oshead/BE401/lectures/pres4381fa093185c.p...

http://www.researchgate.net/publication/258047222_Lactic_aci...

Does anyone have any experience with this? I can't seem to find some of the bacteria needed for making some of the acids (for example Aspergillus flavus to make Kojic acid). Does anyone have any ideas where I may be able to buy them? Also, would it be better to separate the organic acids by neutralizing them with a base and collecting the salt, or by distilling the acid off (I have read about it being done both ways)?

Right now I have limited experience with culturing microorganisms (currently I am attempting to isolate and culture halophiles...), but I have been able to successfully micropropagate several species of plants.

Thank you,

nlegaux

Yes my dad has done a fair bit in this area, I will try and find his papers on research gate, do you have full access to it?
Failing that I will badger him to join here
To be honest isnt this more bio chemistry?

Thanks for the response! I guess it probably would fit there better... I don't have access to the research gate yet, but I will ask.
