L-Alanine tert-butyl Ester

I want to make tert-butyl Ester of L-Alanine.

Can I get exact procedure for this ?

Is it mandatory to make its HCl salt due to unstability of pure esters ? Can't I get directly the ester in any solvent ? (As I want the ester only).
