Mechanism of Permanganate/oxalate reaction

Does anyone have any idea how this reaction works? I found an online journal (ACS) but I didn't have an account. Looking at the JCE page for it, they mentioned an [Mn(C2O4)3]3- intermediate. Does the complex help catalyse the reaction, and if so how?
