The odd-numbered larger rings are definitely annoying, though I've gotten better at drawing 7 membered rings by thinking of them as drawing a six membered ring, resting on a side, but you use slightly wider angles and then add two bonds where the "top" one would be

Requires a bit more methodical construction but it usually comes out very well
