Chems from product

Hi all

Well I am in the processes of a basic Home made chem lab
Through fractional distillations Of basic products.

For my up and comming chemistry
Education for college.

So I guess chemical extractions and seperations is the best place to start,
For me and most newbies, out there.

So maybe a thread of some basic chem sources and products otc to aid in our newbies experimental quests,

I am aware there are compounds out there that are a List no no to post.
However basic chem ingredient products knowledge would be more beneficial step
For the newbie...with out actually spoof feeding them recipeis.
For example

ie....dcm from nitromorse (If possible) I think
Hcl ....patio cleaner.
Sodium hydroxid..costic soda

All contributions welcome

Feel free to pm me
with any Good
suggestions
If posting not
viable
Vice versa

I think you're going to need more if you really want to advance college studies - HCl and NaOH are high-school level chems. Besides, why do you need DMC (unless you need a very specific solvent?) when you can get so many other organic solvents more easily? Acetone, isopropyl, hydrocarbons, etc.
As for OTC products, I agree a thread with all the general ones is needed - but they've been done-to-death on so many other forums already.

Thx for your reply elementcollector1

Yea I agree that it has been done to death, but products change all the time
For various reasons or another...

I know it's a border line topic....

But a list of basic every day needs of chems
Would be beneficial for most fellow chemists.

New products arrive on shelfs all the time.
It's good to share :D

Thx...the rocket

Is it any wonder why our poor search engine cripples to its knees whenever I try to search for something?

Good luck finding carbon tetrachloride though- due to its environmental impact it has been (or is?) banned in consumer products
